This poem is one of my childhood favourites. I think i was in the 3rd or 4th standard when i first read it....brings back a lot of good memories of my school days....!
I am dedicating this lovely poem to my busy husband who has no time to stand and stare at me...-:):)
(PS- i know that was a bad one...;)..)
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

hey did'nt know u were into poems ..
yeah read this one after a long time
h w david if i remember ...
does invoke a sense of nostalgia..
reminds me of the days that as a kid i would lay down on the grass and stare at the clouds.. trying to make out funy patterns.. or foolishly convince my self that i could see the world spinning ...
... the best and the most carefree of times....
thank you for reliving those images for me..
Hey Arindam...m very much into poems....:)
I agree with u....this poem is very special....brings back a lot of childhood memories!
Do u still write poems?
Sorry to say that i havent wrote a single line after high school.
Well i was heart broken after a girl i had a crush on broke my heart. And after that the words just ceased to flow.
Then came engineering college,career.. then as the poem goes .. no time to stand and stare.. to get inspired and pen down words.
To tell you the truth seems i've just lost the touch.
